Battle of York bicentennial

Well, this post is a little late, but we lost our internet for a week.

So, on April 27th was the 200th anniversary of the Battle of York, which took place during the war of 1812 when the Americans invaded the town of York (now Toronto). On Saturday there was a couple of big events, one was the presentation of new colours (a flag with the regiments battle honours on it). The regiment was the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Canada, the colonel-in-chief for this regiment is Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh and he himself presented the new flag.

Afterward soldiers from the army and navy (no air force.... boooooo), marched from Queen's Park down to Fort York.

The first dandelions of the year, we found these in Fort York

This is the video of the full parade.

On May 25/26 we are going to be doing what's called Doors Open, only we are going to be at the theatre working both days. It's going to be fun, lots of new people to meet, and we get to 'drive' the old elevators, more on that later.

What a day

Today was so cool, we got so much free stuff. Me and daddy went to the Canadian Tire Home and Auto Show, it was so Canadian Tire could show off some new products they are going to be selling this year. But it was also a chance to get some free stuff, and boy did we ever.
I've added to my fandom collection.
This is a license plate border, daddy is going to make me a vanity plate with my name on it to go with it.

My new Maple Leafs poster

My sports stuffies, a football, baseball and the hockey puck we added today

I got a free food sample of carrot

My Argos #1 finger, it also makes a great ear warmer
We also got to meet some very nice people, although not the ones we really wanted to see. We wanted to meet Buddy Valastro.
But we did get to see one of the cakes he made, that's a Stanley Cake Cup made out of a cake.
Buddy has his own show on TLC, you might have heard of it, called "Cake Boss".
We also missed meeting Cesar Millan, The Dog Whisperer, I wanted to get some tips on how to make the doggies around here behave.
But we did get to meet some celebrities while we were there, and I got autographs from some of them.
Meeting the Energizer Bunny

Some NHL Alumni autographs. Nick Kypreos, Glenn Healy, Jeff O'Neill and Tom Fergus.
We also got to see some of the NHL trophies, other then the real Stanley Cup (which we missed).

The Jack Adams Award

The left trophy is the James Norris Memorial, the other one were not sure.

Maurice 'Rocket' Richard Trophy

Vezina Trophy

Frank J. Selke Trophy

Conn Smythe Trophy
We also got sneak peeks at some new stuff, like a cooler bag that has built in freezer packs, and the new mascots for the 2014 Winter Games in Russia. The reason I mention this is that one of the three mascots is a bunny.
These aren't even available to the public yet, but you know we are going to try and get one when they are.
I brought my toy with me so I could play when I got bored, and I used it a little bit.

Well everybun, it's been a long day and daddy is telling me it's time for bed, so goodnight.

And one more thing before I end this post.

MAPLE LEAFS ARE PLAYOFF BOUND!!!!!!

GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!!

Anniversary

I was just going over the posts for my blog, and I realized something, in 11 days 7 hours and 35 min, April 22nd at 1833 (6:33pm), this blog will be one year old. And what a year it has been, Sporting events, festivals, birthdays, all kinds of fun. We welcomed three new members to our family, and announced the pending arrival of a new family member to our extended family. I got to ride on a big train, and got a car seat for when I ride in grandma's car. Met new friends, and survived an illness with the help of many of those friends from all over the world.

Baseballs back!!!!

My all time favorite sport is back, and that means my favorite team is playing. So I'm into cheerleader mode for my Blue Jays.

Now, a little bit of a back story here. When I was a baby I was fascinated with baseball, there is a local sportscaster here that did a five part series on how to play the game. And I watched every single one, every time the that segment came on I was there on daddy's lap watching it, when it ended I was back off to play. I did that for the whole five parts, so daddy figures I was a baseball fan. I've grown into a super sports fan (especially the ones with Cheerleaders).

Yesterday we traveled all the way downtown to get a new flag for my stroller, so I've got three out of 7 sports team flags.
My new Blue Jays flag
I've also got two new stuffies to travel with, a baseball and a football.

We also got one of my favorite movies, Rise of the Guardians. I like it because it has a more badass version of the Easter Bunny, voiced by Hugh Jackman (Wolverine from the X-Men movies). This bunny is super cool, don't get me wrong, EB from Hop was cool in his own way, but Guardian EB kicks evils butt.
Our copy of Guardians.
Left to right in the back row is Jack Frost, North (Santa), and Easter Bunny (Bunny). Front is Sandy (Sandman), and the Tooth Fairy.

Daddy says that I'm his Guardian bunny, all I need now is a pair of boomerangs (and to learn how to use them).

Oh, and today is Tartan Day, where we celebrate more of the Scottish culture.

A very important day

Today, April 4th is International Carrot Day. When we celebrate that wonderful, and delicious, orange treat.
Of course for us buns there is always more then the orange part at the bottom, there is also the leafy greens on top. I like all the parts of the carrot, but my odd little brother Groucho only likes the leafy tops.

I'm off to ste... err beg daddy for one of the carrots that he is eating.
