Christmas 2012

This Christmas was the BEST ONE EVER!!!!!!!

Not only did me and daddy get to spend it with grandma and grandpa and the other relatives, we also got to spend it with my COUSIN!!!! I haven't seen him since he was really little, so yesterday was AWESOME!!! He's seven years old now, and loves us bunnies, but has great respect for us as well. First question he asked daddy when we got in the door was how I was doing, he was really worried about me. That made me and daddy very happy.

On the way to grandma's house
Well, on to my favorite part, the presents. Daddy got me a new chew toy, he says that I need to chew it more to keep my teeth good. I also got a brand new sweater, it looks like my other camo one, but is brand new.
My new ball, and my new sweater.
This happened tonight, it couldn't have happened yesterday for Christmas.

Daddy tried taking the same picture, but with a flash, this is the result.
Tomorrow me and daddy are going to go shopping, hopefully with a stop at Petsmart so I can spend some of my Christmas money.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee Santa came

Wooooohoooooooo!!!!!! Looky Santa came last night, and look what he left for us.
Daddy says that Santa heard about my teeth problems, and he talked to the Easter Bunny. This is what EB suggested "lots of hay", well, this isn't exactly what me and EB were referring to, but what does Santa know about bunnies.
I also got my Petsmart gift card yesterday, daddy told me that I can get toys, but I also have to get clothes too.
Me with my card, there's even a bunny on it.

My card in it's envelope
In about an hour me and daddy are leaving for grandma's house, and daddy says that when he talked to grandma last night, she said there was a present for me under their tree. Not only am I excited about that, me and daddy are going on the big train to get to grandma's, one of my favorite ways to travel.

We'll be posting pictures later from grandma's house, we have a new device that allows us to go on to the internet from anywhere. Which will allow us to give better updates when something like my vet appointment happens, because up until Saturday we only had daddy's cell phone to go on the net with. I'll explain more later, I want to go have a nap right now, and give myself a little bit of a bath before we go to grandma's.

A fictional letter to Santa

This is a letter I made up from a bunny to Santa explaining what happened so he can stay on the nice list.

Dear Santa
The following are things that were NOT my fault.

-Tipping over the Christmas Tree. I was chasing the cat playing tag with the cat, but he cheated by climbing up the tree, so I tipped the tree over to chase him some more 'tag' him it.

-Chewing the power cord on the inflatable Santa Claus; I thought that it was a giant attacking my human, so in a bold move to save him, I chewed the power cord.

-Peeing on your cookies; I heard my young human say that those cookies must taste like the litter in my potty box.

-Chewing holes in the bottom of all the stockings; I kept hearing the oldest humans saying that the stockings weren't holey to keep with Christmas traditions.

-Chewing open the Christmas presents; I can't read, and I can't shake the presents so I wanted to see which ones were mine.

-Marinating the turkey in my pee; I heard my human dad comment that the baking pan looked like my litter box, and the stuffing as looking like the litter..... Well, I really needed to go, and was to far from my potty box.

Almost done with the meds

I'm only on one medication right now, and this Monday night I'll be all done.
Daddy isn't giving me any more oats, it was starting to cause more problems then it was solving. And I am eating my pellets, hay and greens without much problem now. We haven't gotten a weight on me yet, but maybe later on Sunday daddy can catch me and put me on the scale.

There has been another change of plans for Christmas, me and daddy aren't going to grandma's house on Christmas Eve after all. It's even better, we're going Christmas day!!!!! Which means I get to see my great grandma, great grandaunt, and great uncle, and grandma and grandpa too. Only two more days till that happens, it's going to be great.

Oh, and we got to see Ice Age, Continental drift (that's the 4th and most recent movie). And you know what, there's a rabbit in it. He's one of the pirates (bad guys), but still he is a bunny and a pirate so I like him. That's two movies I've seen where there is a bunny that fights with a weapon, Easter Bunny in Rise of the Guardians was the other one.

I am back

I have been pooping like crazy, daddy had to clean out my litter box today cause I filled it up.
I also got into a little bit of trouble Wednesday, but it was daddy's fault.
Here's what happened, daddy had started to give us food (pellets and some oats for me), well he caught me when I tried to sneak past him, so he wouldn't give me my medication, he did anyway *thump*. But I got a bit of payback, daddy had left the container of oats on the floor, and open. Well, I helped myself to some oats, he was going to give me some anyway.
I don't have to go back to the vet until the new year, I was kinda hoping that it would be sooner, so the vet would say I don't need anymore meds.

The baby sisters are 2

Annabelle and Candi turned 2 years old on Sunday, which means we'll have been living in this building for 2 years tomorrow (Tuesday Dec, 18th). Daddy knows this because we adopted those two just after we moved in here, and they were posted on a Yahoo group called Freecycle.

Now, for an update on my health, I am eating my pellets mixed with rolled oats (nommy), I finished off a whole bowl full, and a pile of cilantro and parsley. So my teeth are back in chewing mode.
I'm now only on one medication, the antibiotic, and will be for awhile yet. But at least it tastes better then the Critical Care, yuck.
I'm not sure, but I think daddy has been talking with Santa, he's been using his cell phone with headphones, and talking to someone about Christmas, and giving updates on how my recovery is progressing. It could only mean he's talking to Santa, right? I've tried to see who he's called, but he deletes the call log.
Speaking of Christmas, me and daddy are going to grandma's house on Christmas eve, that is going to be fun. We get to ride the choo-choo train there, and ride in grandma's car home. Daddy has told me that I'll have a present to open there, and that Santa may deliver our presents there instead.

Sunki is home!!!!

A little groggy, but that is whats to be expected when he was put under, and have doctors poking around in ones mouth.
He is on three meds (metacam, sulfa/trim, and cisapride, all banana flavor) also Critical Care.
We have to call back in the next couple of days to see if a follow up is needed.

There was more then just the trouble with his front teeth, his molars needed to be ground down, and one back tooth had to be extracted completely because it was growing toward the front of his mouth. His jaws are not lined up properly, so it appears this will be an ongoing yearly thing.

Sunki staying at vet

Sunki is staying at the vet for the day, they need to do surgery to trim his teeth.
We will post more when we get info.

On the way to the vets

We've managed $300 approx, it should be enough to cover things.
Daddy weighed me last night, and I am down to 1.1 kg (2lb), I should be up between 3 and 4kg.

Just saw Rise of the Guardians

One comment to describe how cool this movie is, the Easter Bunny fights, and uses boomarangs as his weapons. Oh, and Santa, the toothfairy, sandman and Jack Frost are in it too.
Still not as cool as Hop, but then EB never beat anyone up in that movie.

I also got me another stuffie, this one I used my Christmas money, and bought an Oswald the Lucky Rabbit from the Disney Store, I suppose I could have gotten one of the triplets from Brave when they were bear cubs, but Oswald is by far my favourite.

Vet appointment changed

Daddy has moved the appointment up to this Monday at 0900 (yuck), it means we have to be up really early to make it on time.

We should have enough to cover the costs, daddy says that people have donated from as far away as Switzerland and the United Kingdom. With all the donations, the total is around $240. Daddy says this should be just enough to get me fixed up, and he won't be paying more then that, he knows what is needed, and what that involves. So any extra tests aren't necessary, except maybe an eye test for the vet, because if he can't see my front teeth are crooked he's blind.

We'll see what happens on Monday morning, sadly we won't be seeing Dr Munn, but the vet we are seeing is just as experienced. If your keeping score, this will be the third vet I will see in my life, and crossing ears, toes, paws etc, the last vet I will need to see.

I have a vet appointment

On December 17th at 1030 to see Dr Munn, who is the best bunny vet ever. If Rabbit Rescue trusts him, then he should be good.

Insert surprised bunny look here

WOWEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As you can tell I am truly in wonder over this latest development.
A very generous donor is sending us a donation of 100.00 Swiss Francs, which is $107.00 CDN! So I would like to take a moment and say a special thanks to Susanne Trier, both daddy and I are very happy now, we can now likely do everything in one appointment.

But, daddy also reminds me that I shouldn't forget the other people who sent money to help me, so I'd like to thank everyone for their generous donations, and there are to many to list here. So I'll just say one big Thankyou to everyone, and to watch this blog and my Facebook page for a very special post tomorrow.

Our first over seas donation

A very nice bunny named Banacek from the UK sent us £10 which works out to be $15.00 Canadian. So far we have $30.00 toward my vet bill, we're just $40.00 away from being able to have the vet look at me.
I told daddy sending my picture to Daily Bunny, with a request for help, would help kick start the donations, even grandma was doubtful it would help, well I proved that I'm a smart bunny.

We have a donation

A very special update, we have our first donation. Thanks to Dusky and his mom who donated $5.00 toward my vet care.

You can send donations via Paypal to winningemd@gmail.com

Hoppy St Andrew's day

Today is the day we celebrate the patron saint of Scotland, St Andrew.

I'm on daily bunny today, they have posted links to my Facebook page and this blog. We hope that it will bring in more donations.

Daddy did a more accurate weight on me, I'm down to 1.5kg. Daddy got me some oats, which is what the vet recommended last year when I needed to regain the weight I lost. So that, plus the pellets, plus critical care should keep my weight stable, or hoping, increase, until we can get into see the vet.

Also we saw yucky white stuff falling from the sky on the way home tonight, but it isn't going to be sticking around, the temperature is going up into the low double digits next week.

Update on how to donate

Sunki's daddy here with an important update.

We have found a couple of new ways to donate to Sunki's vet care, plus some further information for one of the methods.

Interac Email Transfer (also called a Email Debit Transfer)
1: go to your banks website, choose email money transfer.
2: send the money to the following address help4sunki@gmail.com
3: you need to choose a security question and answer, to make this easy use the following "who needs this money for vet care?" and the answer "Sunki".

Paypal:
You can do the same email money transfer as above from Paypal, just follow the instructions.

Western Union:
There are many methods to send money, what you need is the receiver's name and address, send an email to help4sunki@gmail.com and we'll give you the information for that.

So far Sunki seems to be holding his own, he is eating pellets and getting 15cc of critical care twice a day. When I weighed him last week he was 2kg when I weighed him just now he was down to 1.5kg, for Sunki's breed (mini-rex) he should be between 3 and 4kg.
I am going to try something I did last year when Sunki needed to gain back the weight he lost, I'm going to give him rolled oats with his pellets.

That was a fun show

Well, we saw Snow White on Thursday, and it wasn't what we expected at all. Of course with these shows you have to embrace the oddness, because you never know what silliness they are going to come up with. As a for instance, there aren't any dwarfs in this version of Snow White, and not to give anything away, but it's a "spy game" with some "numbers" for the hero, and his son Jack the giant killer.
We likely won't be seeing the show again, so daddy wasn't able to get me a stuffie from the show like last year. But daddy talked to grandma, and if she remembers to, she'll pick up one for me the next time she's at the theatre. I'm crossing my paws and rubbing my left hind foot for luck that she does remember, then my new stuffie can join Kiwi that I got from last years show.
Kiwi when I first got him.

Me and Kiwi.
Seeing this picture reminds me that I have to get daddy to dig out the Christmas stuff, and get our stuffies Santa clothes out. Tomorrow is the Beach Santa Claus parade, so we need the Santa stuff out. We are also likely to end up down at the Grey Cup party, hopefully we can sell more of daddy's cartoon cards which will get us closer to having enough money to get me into see the vet.
Speaking of which, I am eating my pellets again, but I'm still getting Critical Care twice a day so I don't go into stasis.

At the dinner

Boy, what I have to go through to see a show, long winded boring speeches. Plus the humiliation of being given meds right in front of everyone.
Next year the theatre is going to be 100 years old, that is what the cookie is about.

On the way

Me and daddy are headed to the theatre right now to see Snow White. Can't wait to see my favorite actor Eddie Glen, I met him last year on the subway when he was playing the Wizard Ozzie in the Wizard of Oz.

So excited for tomorrow

Considering I just started this blog a few months ago the most exciting stuff is still to come.
There is an annual tradition in the theatre community of our city, it is the annual Ross Petty Pantomime held at the Elgin Theatre. This year is Snow White the Deliciously Dopey Family Musical, tomorrow is the dress rehearsal and we get to see it for free, and we get a dinner too, well the humans do, but daddy is bringing my favorite greens for me to eat.

It's going to be so fun, grandma and grandpa, my great grand aunt, and my uncle Matthew will all be there, they all volunteer at the theatre too.

How to donate to my vet care

Okay, her is the information on how to donate to get my vet care.

Go to your banks online website, there should be a way to send an Interac e-mail money transfer. Go to that link, you may have to add a payee email to that in order for it to work.
Send the transfer to [ help4sunki@gmail.com ] and follow the instructions on your banks site to complete the process.

Still no donations

To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. No one has donated to BIN, for my stuff, or for the general help of the other bunnies that need the help.

We do finally have an estimate on how much the vet is going to be, just to be seen by the vet is going to be $70.00, all the other procedures they won't even tell us what those amounts are until they see me. Grandma and daddy are working on setting up a way to do an email money transfer so that people can donate to help with my vet care.
Keep an eye on this blog in the coming days, I will let you know the wheres and hows to donate money to us.

Daddy is also working on putting his trading cards up on a site called Etsy so that people can buy them online, and the money raised will go to my vet care too.

Now on to some fun stuff, the Toronto Argonauts are playing the Calgary Stampeders in the 100th Grey Cup, and our city is going nuts over it.
My new fluffy Argo's blanket, nice and fluffy, just like me

See, all snuggled in and warm
Oh, and I got to meet some cheerleaders who posed for a picture with me
Toronto Agro's cheerleaders.
.
I also got a new pin to commemorate this momentous occasion
I wanted the actual mini Grey Cup, but that was way more then what daddy was willing to pay.

Look what we got

Yesterday my second most favorite movie came out on DVD, Brave. And daddy and I picked up a copy of it, and we watched it yesterday night. Oh, my first favorite movie is Hop.
This movie has our favorite band on the soundtrack the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.

Daddy also got a new gadget for himself that attaches to the stroller, it holds his cell phone and makes it so he can see it when we're out walking.
Daddy's cell phone in the holder

The cell phone holder from the side.
My stroller is all set for the holidays, we've got some more Christmas type lights on it.
My stroller is even brighter now.

See the bag beside my stroller, that's for my greens, we got it from Bunfest a few years ago.

And I am having some issues with my teeth, last year I had a minor injury to my jaw which led to an abscess and stasis. Daddy has appealed to BIN (Bunnies In Need) to hopefully get them to pay for the vet, because no one in the family can afford to pay for the vet this time. So, if my loyal readers can spare some money, donate some to Bunnies In Need so that bunnies like me can get the help they need. You can find the link to BIN here, and go to the donate page.
At the moment I'm doing okay, I am eating my greens and drinking water, but I can't eat my pellets or hay. Daddy has started me on Critical Care so I don't go into stasis, and hopefully BIN will approve us going to see a vet before it runs out.

I got a new sweater

As it's getting colder outside we thought it best to find me some warmer clothing to wear.
So we were out at Petsmart yesterday doing some price checking on a new food bin to put our hay in, we looked at the doggie clothing and found this sweater.
It's camouflage, but it has skulls in the design

It needed a bit of alteration to make it fit me right

As you can see daddy is quite good at altering clothes to fit me

It even has a hood to keep my ears warm

Not liking the hood much though
In twelve days I'm going to get to go see my second live stage musical, it's Snow White the Deliciously Dopey Family Musical it is a Pantomime. These shows are really funny, last year was Wizard of OZ (that's where I got my koala Kiwi from). So this one should be just as funny.

It's on at the Elgin/Winter Garden Theatre in Toronto, and goes from November 23rd 2012 to January 5th 2013 so if you're in Toronto between those dates you should really come and watch, you'll be rolling in the aisles laughing.
This was taken back in 2009, I'm practicing super spy here, I'm in the basket under the stroller.

Royal Winter Fair and other things

This is my first chance to post something about the weekend, it was crazy busy with a couple of events.

On Saturday we went to the Royal Winter Fair, which is celebrating 90 years this year. The last time daddy went to it was when he was in public school, so decades ago. Both of us really wanted to go after daddy found out there were going to be bunnies there, one was a show (if daddy could have been up at 5:00am for 7 days straight, and had enough money he would have entered me into that), the other was bunny hopping (where the bunnies go through a course hopping over jumps ect). I'm far to independent minded to stick to a silly course, and would wonder around jumping over the jumps at random.

I have also realized that I wouldn't be any good at sheep herding, those things are a lot bigger then I thought they were, and my herding method (humping) just wouldn't work with sheep. I also learned that cows are disgusting smelly creatures, I can't believe that daddy likes to drink their milk and eat the meat that comes from them.

We did get me some things from the fair, a new button to show I was actually there, a mini bagpipe (even smaller then the other one I've got). AND after a two year long search we found NESSIE!!!!!!!!!! It wasn't at a Scottish festival either, it was at an agricultural fair, mind you it isn't a stuffed one, it's more of a fridge magnet, but still it's a NESSIE!!!!!!!!!!

Daddy got some stuff for him as well, a wooden walking stick, and two packages of exotic meat pepperettes. One is Camel, and the other package is Kangaroo.

On Sunday we went to an early Remembrance Day ceremony, which remembers the fallen soldiers that gave their lives so that we can live free. Daddy and I would like to pause right now and post two poems that are very near and dear to our hearts.

Impressions of a Pilot
Flight is freedom in its purest form,
To dance with the clouds which follow a storm;
To roll and glide, to wheel and spin,
To feel the joy that swells within;
Should my end come while I am in flight,
Whether brightest day or darkest night;
Spare me your pity and shrug off the pain,
Secure in the knowledge that I'd do it again;
For each of us is created to die,
But within me I know,
I was born to fly.
— Gary Claud Stokor

High Flight

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . .
Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or ever eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
— John Gillespie Magee, Jr

Both of these poems are to commemorate daddy's grandfathers who were in the air force and are sadly no longer with us.

Now back to one of the fun things we did on Sunday, we found something from a very OLD Disney cartoon that predates even Mickey Mouse. We found an Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Christmas tree ornament. Oswald is the original Disney character and predates Mickey by ten years, if it weren't for some back stabbing in the 1920s, it would be Oswald that would be the main stay of Disney. But because Disney lost the rights to him, Walt Disney drew a silly little mouse on the train ride home from New York to Hollywood. Had it not been for his wife we would be calling that little mouse Mortimer, but Mrs Disney didn't like that name and suggested Mickey instead.

Sheep are a lot bigger then I thought

Even the babies are bigger

The bunny jumping

My new pin

My Nessie

My two bagpipers

And finally Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, notice a resemblance to a certain rodent?
